    Staff Picks: Father's Day Gifts
    The B Blog

As of 2023, there are approximately 72 million fathers across the United States alone. Since 1972, dads across the nation have been celebrated on the third Sunday of June all because of a daughter from Spokane, WA. Sonora Dodd’s dad was a widowed Civil War veteran who raised her and her five siblings alone after the war. Sonora wanted to dedicate a special day to celebrating her dad, and Father’s Day was born.

Over fifty years later, Sonora’s legacy lives on with Father’s Day just around the corner. Dad deserves to know you care, and we want to help you beat the last-minute rush. Let our staff inspire you with our top picks for Father’s Day gift ideas (plus some honorable mentions), helping you to find the perfect present for the man who gave you the gift of life.

Escali’s Old Stone Pizza Steel is the perfect temperature-regulating tool for your oven.

Jennifer’s Pick: The Pizza Steel (Need to add to website)

You’ve probably heard of a pizza stone, but what about a pizza steel? Jennifer, one of the Blackstone’s of Beacon Hill owners, just brought these innovative products in stock due to popular demand. While traditional pizza stones are made of stoneware, pizza steels are made using temperature-regulating steel. The pizza stone’s more impressive cousin, pizza steels make restaurant-quality pizzas without the need for an expensive pizza oven, transferring and retaining heat more quickly and reliably than ever.

Jennifer recommends a pizza steel for the dad that loves to cook creative meals with the family. Pair with a pizza cutter, pizza peel, and other cook’s tools to give your dad the gift of family pizza nights for years to come.

Tovolo’sbaseball ice molds are the perfect sports-themed Father’s Day gifts.

    Angela’s Pick: Sports Ice Molds

If you’ve visited our Beacon Hill store, you’ve probably met Angela. On any given day, you can find Angela flitting through the store, helping customers and solving all of the staff’s problems. Angela makes it a point to know every product in our store, and she has the perfect pick for a budget-friendly Father’s Day gift.

While specialty ice molds are a popular choice for dad gifts, Angela thinks that the basketball, golf ball, and baseball molds truly knock things out of the park. If your dad loves sports and experimenting in the bar, these Tovolo molds are the perfect fit. Pair these with our set of FortessaOld Fashion glasses, a pint glass, and the Ultimate Bar Book to stock dad’s bar this Father’s Day.

Lamson's Heavy-Duty Meat Cleaver sits on a wooden cutting board with diced red meat and whole orange-and-yellow carrots beside it. In the top left corner, a bowl filled with diced red carrots and potatoes sits on a white countertop.

This meat cleaver is the perfect fit for heavy-duty kitchen tasks, like chopping dense vegetables, dicing thick cuts of meat, and even slicing through bone.

    Paige’s Pick: Lamson’s Heavy-Duty Walnut Meat Cleaver

If you’ve run into me in our store, there’s a good chance I was somewhere near the knife wall. Since my first time at Blackstone’s, I’ve been transfixed by our collection of specialty knives, and some things just never change. So, when customers ask for Father’s Day gift ideas, of course I point them toward our knife collection (I mean, we aren’t the largest knife retailer in New England for nothing).

When I think of dads, I think of heavy-duty kitchen tasks. Lamson is my favorite of our Western knife brands, and their Heavy-Duty Walnut Meat Cleaver balances function with a budget-friendly price. Made in Massachusetts using German steel, this cleaver features high-carbon steel, a durable walnut handle, and full-tang construction that is able to break through bones and last a lifetime. Pair this with other essential kitchen knives to complete dad’s collection!

Hands hold a folding Opinel carbon steel knife, using it to slice into a piece of white fruit.

Dads everywhere favor Opinel knives for their innovative design and functional finishes.
