Product Details
Shiranami, meaning “white-capped waves” in Japanese, is a knife series that embodies movement, precision, and quiet power. Inspired by the flowing forms found in traditional Japanese folk art and woodblock printmaking, each blade reflects the spirit of water in motion—expressed through layered Damascus steel, ocean-toned jute micarta handles, and sculptural profiles. At the core of every knife is Shun’s Dual Core construction, combining VG2 and VG10 steels in a 71-layer structure, precision-sharpened to 16° per side for exceptional performance that improves with use. The series includes time-honored Japanese profiles such as the Nakiri and Santoku, as well as familiar Western shapes like the Chef’s, Paring, and Bread knives—each interpreted through Shun’s signature lens of layered steel and handcrafted detail.
