About Houston Llew: In a dilapidated Atlanta garage, Houston toiled for months on “ramen and beer” to overcome unemployment and create the positivity of his Spiritiles. Using vitreous enamel from ancient Mesopotamia, Houston kiln fires his glass-on-copper images then cools them on a planchet to form the glass on all sides of the frame. The natural cracks which form during that manipulation add a charm loved by Mesopotamian royalty.
Learn more about the process in our blog post.
How to display: Spiritiles can be displayed freestanding (they look especially impactful in groups) or hung (from their pre-drilled and angled holes on the back). They even withstand high humidity, direct sun, and covered outdoor environments (we recommend taking them inside during cold winter weather). A lint-free cloth sprayed with glass cleaner is all you need to clean these art works.
